My kind of place, and for the most part, I mostly feel comfortable in these 3-4 star places. Nothing fancy, just solid enough to bring me back. So after a long and icy drive from Denver, we finally arrive in Steamboat that evening. With most places in this small town closing somewhat early 8-9 pm, I was worried about our dining options. This place was recommended by someone in our time share complex so off we went at 10 pm. Located on the main strip (a very charming, old west theme), this place was still bumpin at this hour. We enter into the bar area and it's loud and rollin with partiers, a solid jukebox and lots o booze. The dining area was starting to thin out but was still occupied with a few large parties. Nice black and white photos of early Colorado-ians adorn the sepia lighted walls. Between 5 of us, we tried the Tortilla Chip Encrusted Red Trout, Sesame Seared Yellowfin Tuna and a Buffalo Sirloin Steak. Entrees with choice of starch ran between $17-$28. I ordered the Buffalo and this was the first time I'd ever had an actual steak of buffalo, other experiences were always ground. I became a fan of that meat this night as it was lean, flavorful and satisfying. I'm a huge fan of "choice" grade beef and though I value tenderness in beef, I wasn't expecting it for buffalo. I actually had to chew this mofo, with flavor bursting in every carnivorous bite and the horseradish demi that topped the meat was very complementary. The portions are huge and most in our group could not finish their plates so I got to try everybody's dishes. The tuna was good with a wasabi sauce and the trout was crunchy and tasty, though it needed a little salt. I love it when my appetite is paired with others lack there of. Yin with Yang at its finest, with me being the stuffed beneficiary.

My husband and I went there for our first night in steamboat. At first it seemed okay. I ordered the venison chili and my husband had the buffalo burger. We both enjoyed our meals. The server wasn't really that good - but nothing bad enough to deserve a one star review. It wasn't til we left, that things got bad. My husbands stomach started hurting and was still hurting when he woke up. A few hours into the morning out of the blue he started violently vomiting immediately followed by a fever so high that he was physically shaking. Its about 8 hours after this happened and luckily he is no longer shaking but he hasn't been able to leave the hotel bed yet. The vomiting & fever came on suddeningly and he had absolutely no signs of the flu previously and we hadn't eaten anything else that day since lunch. I described what happened because since we did not go to the hospital there is not an official diagnosis, I thought it best to let you draw your own conclusions.

Pretty good food for a bar. I was temped to give it two stars after the general mehness of the buffalo burger I had and the fries were pretty average too. The one thing that set it apart in my meal was the wild sausage appetizer that made me thing back to Hot Doug's in Chicago. There were some other interesting items on the menu like the venison chili. I just wish that the burger was better considering how much they advertise how good it is. If I were to go back I would stick with the "wild" choices as they seem to be the best on the menu.

I really love historic buildings that have seen a lot of changes, and still maintained a great deal of their character. This is one such building. Built in 1904, it became the Albany Hotel, and, later, the area's first hotel. It was also a general store twice, and a post office twice, in addition to being a movie theatre, a dance hall, and an Odd Fellows Hall. Now, it is a pub and restaurant. We were there on our first stop of a Happy Hour Pub Run. Happy Hour in Steamboat Springs starts at 3:00 or 4:00 p.m., and runs until 6:00 in most places along Lincoln Avenue. All have good deals on drinks, and snacks. At this place, it was Half Off select draws making them $2.25 each. My wife had the White Rascal Wheat beer, and I had an Apricot Blonde. We liked them both, but, then again, what's not to like about beer. We also had the Fries off the appetizer menu, but didn't find out until later that some appetizers were $1.00 off at Happy Hour. This was one of those choices. So, the Fries were only $3.00. The Fries were pretty good, and they gave a good, (not great) amount. We liked the old timey style of the place, the adequate, smiling service, and the quiet of a Sunday afternoon. Yes, they do Happy Hour on Sunday afternoon, at least during the Summer. The quiet was one thing I really liked about Steamboat Springs this time, and I'm guessing it's because of the time of the year. It seemed like a lot of other mountain towns, but it was incredibly peaceful, especially after a few Happy Hour stops. That's another thing to like about Happy Hour in Steamboat. There is a Free Bus to take you back to your hotel, condo, or townhouse, so you don't have to worry about a designated driver. Happy Hour this Sunday was a good opportunity for us to sample a variety of pubs on the main drag, and this was just our first stop. We liked it.

Terrific food in an historic venue. I had a blue cheese salad that was out of this world and my husband said both his French Onion Soup and Carnitas Tacos were outstanding. Gorgeous building. Wry (funny and fun), knowing, friendly, attentive service. Wish we could have stayed for the live music -- I guess they feature musicians frequently. An authentic Colorado experience of modern, delicious food and old town, Old West, atmosphere. A "Don't Miss"!

I only stopped in for some drinks on my weekend trip but the beer selection was good if not incredible. They have a decent lineup of Colorado beers and live music on a regular basis. I suppose the review could wind up going higher if I found myself back there again but at the moment I can't really say that there is a particular reason for a tourist to check it out.

We loved the micro brew selection, avocado egg rolls and south of the border poutine. My sons had the best Phillie cheesesteak sandwich and grilled cheese with avocado & bacon they'd ever had. We would definitely come back! Only complaint is you can't play shuffleboard before 8:30pm. I'm not sure why that would be a rule?

Such a great feeling from this place. There are bars that you walk into and feel like a regular straight away, and this is one of them. Wonderful slow Sunday night, and exceptionally friendly service at the bar. We will absolutely be back the next time we come up to the boat. Lots of love for the OTP!

My kind of bar, with a good blues rock sound track. If you're feeling fancy try the "Fancy Pants" pizza.

Great atmosphere, drinks and bar tender (Chris)! I always enjoy a good drink but combine that with a server who knows how to carry on a good conversation and you will have yourself a good time!

Only came in for drinks but the place was decent. Menu looked good for bar food, drinks were strong, and the staff was friendly. Really enjoyed how interactive our bartender was.

Amazing pulled pork poutine, great for kids, friendly staff. Here for a week and with all the great options we kept returning

Reasonably priced. Neat historic atmosphere. A bit slow service, but we loved our food. Would be back again. We had the Pittsburgh and Kentucky sandwiches, both excellent! Nice change of pace for sandwiches.

Well, you can't put a high enough rating on an owner who contacts you personally and extends an offer for you to return to see how their new improvements are doing. Lizzie sent us a small gift certificate and an invitation, and we gladly accepted. Much better - food was great, bar staff was friendly and they are back to what I remember them being. Thanks Lizzie and staff, and looking forward to coming back again!

Located in the heart of downtown Steamboat this is a fun high energy place for bar food and drinks. We went on a Saturday and the bar was mostly packed and had live music. If your looking to party this is your spot in Steamboat.

This place is super cute and has an old saloon feel to it inside. We had very prompt service. Most of the menu was typical bar food but they have some very unique appetizers - we ordered the sausage sampler which was rattlesnake sausage, elk sausage & wild boar sausage. Where do you EVER see that on a menu!?! Oh and we also got Elk Flatbread. All was tasty and served very fast. I had the house margarita which was delicious and made just right. The bar area had great rock music playing and a pool table. Very nice place, I would go back.

Stopped in for Lunch. Two thumbs up to the pulled pork sandwich and the elk sausage. Our server Clint was great!

  • Glenn G.

It's a bar with bar food that's slightly upscale. Service was decent and the bison burger was good. Hefty servings of onion rings but the chicken sandwich was a little dry. There's a lot of TVs around so it's a good place to go to watch a game. Thanks to them though for holding on to my credit card after I forgot it after paying.

This place is awesome. I have been hard pressed to find a better bar anywhere in the world. The bartenders are friendly and the burgers are amazing. The otp is the only bar I go to in town

  • Jessica W.

When we first got there it was a bit empty but the hosts were frantic at our arrival, kind of weird. The food was typical pub food. They have live bands there some nights after ten pm.

    (3)
  • Ryan O.

Horrible Service. Plenty of open tables on a Saturday night, and they did not want to let us pick our own seat by the TV's in the bar area. They finally agreed after we forced the issue. After finally getting seated, we ordered drinks and the drinks did not come out even though we were sitting 10 yards away from the bar. I get up to just order the drinks from the bartender, and she tried to card me a second time. Then she realized that our drinks were already made and just sitting at the end of the bar... Just a very mis-managed place lacking communication between the staff. It seemed like nobody knew what they were doing. The TWO hostess girls didn't know how to seat us, the waitress forgot about our drink order, and the bartender was too lazy to just deliver our drinks after they were sitting on the bar for over 10 minutes. We were going to order food, but after the terrible welcoming we left after our drinks were finished.

Went for lunch here the other day. Walked in and it was a ghost town during lunch time. This should of been the first hint. We decided to eat here anyways and maybe play some pool. We ordered a burger with fries & a lobster roll with a side of Mac n cheese. Burger was well seasoned but very dry & overcooked. My fries were cold. My boyfriend ordered the lobster roll and was extremely disappointed. There was hardly any mayonnaise, just a lot of celery and some lobster meat on a cheap hot dog roll. The Mac n cheese was soupy shell pasta, full of water. There was no cheese on it or in it. We took 2 bites and sent it back. I don't know who they have working in the back of the kitchen but WOAH... They must have never cooked before! Our server was very nice, despite the food being awful. We decided to play some pool after and enjoy ourselves. This was extremely difficult... Let me explain exactly why. We played two games, and then smelled a terrible stench. We though maybe someone had farted because there was a group of people playing pool at the other table next to us. Until, he heard one of them say, " ahhh, John did you just Sh*t your pants?!" Well, he in fact did! He told his girlfriend and friends that it "happens." You think he would have gone to the bathroom or maybe just left. NOPE he continued to play his game of pool and then marched to the bathroom. When he came back he said he wasn't ready to leave and needed another beer! We left & will never, ever, ever be back to eat here again! The food was horrible, the atmosphere was drab & the gentlemen pooping himself just topped it off! It was a GROSS experience all together.

Wow, what a difference a year makes. We begrudgingly stopped in the other day and there has been a major turnaround at this restaurant. The shades were open, the place was clean and get this... The food was amazing! We tried the French onion soup which was very good and tasted homemade, then we had the fish and chips and a Kentucky hot brown sandwich, everything was really good, even the tartar sauce was different and delicious. I would definitely suggest trying this place all over again, we were very impressed.

We stopped in here for happy hour and I had 2 Moscow Mules, didn't taste as gingery as I like but....still was refreshing, strong on the alcohol too as I was feeling the vodka for sure. My husband had 2 beers. Our waiter was very talkative and was telling us about other restaurants around, which we appreciated. We should have eaten here after reading these reviews but we went elsewhere. We still enjoyed our happy hour here though.

The chili was delicious and flavorful. The poutine was served with crunchy French fries, fyi. For dessert, the only options are cheesecake which I did not partake. The booths are very spacious if you can secure one. The server was polite and if you go on a Monday night during the Summer, for sure, there is a free Open Mic Night starting at 10PM. An iconic place to eat in Steamboat Springs.

  • Leigh K.

I wish I could give the Old Town Pub more than two stars since I love an old place with a cool history. The food was meh. Fried pickles were good. The poutine was okay. The french onion soup was weird. Our service, while exceedingly friendly, was decidedly poor. We ordered a round of drinks and then watched them sit on the bar for about 20 minutes while our server forgot about us. Our food came out shockingly fast (long before our drinks) but we weren't given silverware, sharing plates or napkins. And simply could not get anyone's attention - in a half empty restaurant. A hostess or different server finally did realize our situation and took care of everything, with apologies. This place has potential but it wasn't up to par when we were there.

This was the last stop on our Steamboat pub crawl. They were gracious to a fault with us. Provided us great drink specials for the 100 of us who filled their already full bar on a Saturday night. The service was fast and friendly to fill everyone's hand with a drink at any time you walked up to the bar. They even offer live music a few nights a week. We were fortunate enough to see a live band and the dance floor was full to overflowing. A great time was had by all!!!

Walked in and there was no hostess to seat us. One table was seated. We stood around for several minutes and nobody showed up. We left and had a predictably good experience at Rex's.

Lots of healthy items on the menu. Loved the tomato bisque and kale salad. Great service. One of our favorite restaurants in Steamboat.

Wanting a big meal we headed here after reading good burger reviews. My boyfriend and I had a short wait at the bar and then got a table. We ordered a salad and burger to share. I would've liked the salad to come out first, but that didn't happen. Either way it was totally filling and well priced. They also had live music going that night. Friendly staff, cheap food & drinks- what's not to love.

This place is absolutely terrible. Truly disappointing. The bartenders are mean horrible people. Don't even try to order a drink if your not a local. I have never felt so un-welcomed in my life. The bartenders are horrible people. This is my first review and my sole motivation is to make sure people understand that this place sucks, terrible service, terrible drinks, terrible atmosphere. I would recommend sitting at a bus stop in the cold before I would recommend OTP.

  • Melissa D.

Yucky food. I ordered the veggie burger and it wasn't even cooked. Seriously, it was mushy. The bread was ok, so I basically had bread and fries for dinner. The inside of the restaurant was drab and there was nobody there at noon on a Saturday. Guess we should have gotten the hint!

  • Rebecca G.

Stopped in with my husband for 1/2 price burgers on a weekday afternoon. We got seated and served right away at a large, comfy, curved booth. The beer selection is good but not the best in Steamboat. They just don't have as many taps as some of the other bars on Lincoln. However, I got the Rock and Roll burger (fresh avocado smoked bacon, garlic, mushrooms, and swiss) and it was great! The fries served with it were hot and crisp and the server didn't bat an eye when I requested cheddar instead of swiss. Both our burgers and a beer each totaled only $26 (again, 1/2 price burgers that day). Overall, a great stop for lunch!

  • Keith W.

The fried pickles and pickled were great and the burger was quite good too. Do not under any circumstances order a mixed drink however. Watering down the liqueur is one thing but watering down the mixer takes a whole new skill set. My whiskey sour was the worst I've ever had and the rest of our table finally resorted to wine and beer after several other bad cocktails. Caesar salad was not good wings were super average and elk chili was passable. Try Mahogany down the street for nice strong drinks and a far more imaginative and well done menu. They ended up comping our cocktails but the bartender ought to be shot.

Me and a buddy are here in late summer. Slow service to start with, so we sat at the bar. The height of the seats and the funky bar push your knees down and make for uncomfortable sitting. Ended up sitting sideways to be comfortable. Beer was cold.

    (4)
  • Andrew B.

Decent place with a helpful staff. Food was fine, and I discovered Upslope beer. I don't remember now if it was the Pale Ale or the Craft Lager, but it was the best I had in Steamboat. We were a party of 9, which is hard to accommodate when you're not a destination resort town. The staff sorted it out.

  • Josie C.

This place is pretty consistently disappointing. The bartenders are rude. They seem annoyed whether you ask for a drink off the menu or a standard bar drink (vodka tonic...). I'm a NICE patron and a GREAT tipper. This isn't a user-error. The people are just not friendly. The prices are fine, and they often have live music which is fun.

end of ski season, Saturday afternoon service was as expected. average. nothing extra, or above and beyond. fried mozz sticks are a must! burger was good, not excellent, cooked as we asked. had to wait for manager with keys to return in order to have kicked keg swapped out.

I'm surprised to see this place only gets a 3-star overall rating. Went here for dinner on a Friday night and got seated immediately, even though it was busy. The server was thoughtful enough to alert us before the end of happy hour so that we could order more beer before the prices went up again. Ate the best macaroni and cheese of my life here--deliciously creamy noodles topped with crab and a thick layer of cheese crust. The only thing the dish was missing was a side of some kind. A salad or some veggies would have been nice. Apparently this building was once a post office. And a dance hall. And like 10 other things in the past century. The layout is very open and there was a lot of noise from other tables, but I would definitely come here again. The prices are reasonable and the food and drinks are fabulous.

We had a great time here over the weekend. Even though the ski season was over there was plenty of local entertainment to be had. Just a few beers and shots on our first night. The staff was really friendly and the locals were chatty and fun. They turned on the Rockies game for us both nights. We had fried mushrooms and the lobster cakes as apps and a bacon, smoked cheese bison burger on the second night. Cakes were a little soggy but still delicious! Shrooms were hand breaded with a wonderful batter. The burger was We did not win a thing playing 'shake' on both nights but did enjoy a local band of acoustic players putting a nice bluegrass twist to some old classics. No doubt we will visit again!!!

The hubby and I stopped in here for some happy hour margarita action on our second night in Steamboat. We sat in the cute rustic bar area and were immediately greeted by a super nice waiter who was very helpful and knowledgable about the drinks, the menu and about Steamboat Springs in general. He asked what we were doing in town and when we told him we were looking for a place to snowshoe in the morning, he gave us a great recommendation and told us how to get there. All the while he kept the drinks and food coming at a good pace! We started with the fried mushrooms which were served up screaming hot with a lovely golden crisp batter and the plumpest, juiciest, freshest mushrooms inside. Next, I had the Southwestern Chicken Sandwich (sans bun) with a side salad and blue cheese dressing. The chicken was well seasoned, juicy and grilled to perfection. The hubby's burger was also grilled just right and very beefy and delicious. With this kind of service, quality and affordability, this is the kind of place we would definitely frequent if we were locals.

We ate here on Saturday night so every place else we called had 2-3 hr waits (crazy) there was 7 of us. We got right in and got sat in the stage area. Our waitress was supper sweet , and food was really good. It was my boyfriend and his brothers b day so we had mentioned that and also had mentioned that they love bacon, she brought out a dessert with BACON on it. They loved it, and we all had a good time. It's a fun cool mellow bar that u can have a good time at . The burger my boyfriend had was awesome! I can't remember what it was called but it had an onion ring on it . . . Yummy

We used to love this place for the game burgers (elk, buffalo), beer (Guinness on tap), and welcoming atmoshpere. I think they must have changed management in the last year or so. Stopped in for dinner tonight. The service was more or less efficient but not friendly; the food was mediocre - the half chicken was on the dry side, and the veggies were average (server raved about them); and the kids didn't eat the mac and cheese, which is seriously wrong. The kids' menu is overpriced - $7 for the crummy meal, PLUS $2 for a beverage. Really? At least they offer veggies in place of the standard fries. The restaurant was mostly empty - in the past, it wasn't crazy on a Weds night, but it filled up. The only redeeming part of the meal was the delicious venison chili - needed more meat and fewer beans, but the spicy kick makes it a solid choice. Unfortunately we're knocking this place off our standard go-to list.

This was a good place for a burger, beer, and football-watching after a day on the slopes. I got a great-tasting veggie burger and my husband got the ribs. He said he wished the portion was bigger, but he eats a lot. We wanted to watch the game so we requested seating in the bar area. I was afraid it would be too loud but they seated us in a booth with a good view of a TV so it wasn't a problem (probably best since it appeared we were cheering for the wrong team). The waitstaff was attentive and helpful with the menu.

Family of 7 plus baby ate dinner here. Bad choice!!!! We asked for milk for kids and he said he didn't think they had any -but later brought some after we asked twice. Grandma asked for a dinner roll with her salad and he said he didn't think they had any bread -10 year old pointed out his grilled cheese was made with bread! Later he brought her toast. One of us ordered Salmon for dinner and had to ask for it again because he didn't bring it out with everyone else's meal. He claimed the chef didn't feel it was worth serving because it feel apart on the grill (doesn't that mean it was over cooked?) We think this was the one item they truly didn't have. My hamburger was ok. Sweet potato fries were disgusting. You can tell they are the frozen kind not like their description from the menu. The person who wrote the menu is good at telling stories.

This place has great drink specials, a ton of fat tire beers on tap and some really interesting and good venison chili. I had a buffalo burger, it was fantastic. It seemed to me, being a Denver guy, that this was one of the places that the townies seemed to go to. I saw a woman in a pirate hat watching sunday football. Weird, but in a good way.

My family came here on a quiet Sunday evening during a weekend vacation. Service from Clint was incredible-- some of the best restaurant service I've had in some time. Friendly, personable, not afraid to joke with the kids. And he got everything right. The food was excellent all around, with positive reviews from everyone. The burger I had was absolutely incredible. Great selection of local beers, too. All told, we're super glad we skipped the 40 minute wait down the block and came here instead!

This place just plain sucks. The food sucks and the service sucks. We went in because it looked as though they had a pretty extensive menu judging from the one posted outside. We get in and order drinks-- I ordered a COKE and received a Pepsi... which really f*cking bugs me. Then we peruse the menu to find they only really have burgers and a few very overpriced entrees ($17 for spaghetti and meatballs AT A BAR). My boyfriend inquired about the chicken fried steak that they had on the menu outside and our waiter informed us that since it was "mud season" a lot of things had been taken off the menu... bait and switch? Since we had already been seated and ordered drinks we went ahead and ordered. We both got the burgers. They were HORRIBLY dry and tasteless and they were $10+ each. No joke McDonalds would have been three steps above these bricks passed off as meat. Our waiter was fine. Except that he was too busy checking on Boston sports scores and taking shots at the bar to pay any attention to the customers paying to eat at this shitty place. It seemed as though the only people enjoying themselves at this place worked there... and they enjoy themselves so much they neglect the fact that they are at WORK. Minus one star for giving me a Pepsi when I ordered Coke (and not giving me the chance to say "no" to the Pepsi before bringing it to the table). Minus one star for drinking on the job in front of customers you aren't paying attention to (especially when you only have five paying customers total). Minus one star for the horrible food. Minus one star for the prices of your crappy slop. Minus one star for the only people having a good time being the employees (seriously the guy sitting behind us had enough and walked out without ordering). Minus one star for staring at my boyfriend like he was crazy when he asked to put the Rockies game on (he even waited until the Boston Bruins lost their game to ask). Plus one star for actually putting the game on. I have been having bad food experiences lately. Screw you and your "mud season" menu/attitude.

Old Town Pub totes the best burgers in town and they are pretty good. Stopped by on our way to the airport after skiing all morning in 27 inches of fresh powder! Needless to say we were starving and in major need of food. The Old Town Pub fit the bill perfectly. Nothing fancy, exactly what its called, a pub. We started with an order of the fried pickles and wings. The fried pickles were awesome, I know it sounds weird, but order them. The wings were spicy and loaded with flavor. I opted for the build your own burger (your choice of meat/bun/cheese) and got the buffalo burger with pepper jack on a brioche bun, delicious. My brother got the D-fib Burger (BBQ pulled pork, bacon, smoked cheddar on a brioche bun) and you might need to be put on a defibrillator after eating it! Old Town Pub has a good selection of beers on tap and a dangerous looking cocktail list. Service is good, nothing extraordinary. Put a great low key place with good, filling food.

We didn't spend a lot of time here but it seemed like a good place to spend some time. We had lunch and a couple of beers here on Sunday afternoon and it was very quiet. The food was good and the service was very good. I did see the prime rib and it looked amazing.

First time in Steamboat & after spending the morning at Strawberry Hot Springs, we came into town parched! We found Old Town Pub & headed in...with two kids in tow, we hoped for the best. All-in-all, this placed helped set the tone for the first-time experience. Great food, awesome service, excellent beers on draught. Ranger on draft? Yup! Plus two Dale Pale Ales and we were set! An order of fried pickles, a veggie burger and a rock n roll...all great, quality food. Our waiter completely accommodated the kids (as did the staff...they were playing pool after the meal!) and never let our cups dry. Being an out-of-towner, from Philly, I can say with feeling, this place hit the spot on all pub points! Thanks!

My girls and I took a weekend trip to Steamboat to relax, rejuvenate, and recharge. Part of the 3 R's for us was consuming several (-ish) tasty adult beverages. After trudging up and down the main road, only to be shot down by the wine bar and brewery that weren't open, we decided to give the Old Town Pub a try. It's a pretty typical looking pub inside, with lots of TV's for some NCAA football-watching action. They had a fairly good draft beer selection, and the bloody mary's were spicy and pretty damn good. The menu looked good, especially the burgers and the beignet dessert. We decided to have a snack and shared the nachos topped w/ venison chili. I thought the chili lacked in flavor, and definitely in heat. Thus, the nachos were just okay....not terrible, but not even close to the best I've ever had. Now, the worst part was definitely the service. I know that there was 1 server for the entire restaurant, but still. She definitely wasn't managing her time well. They were pretty busy, so I'm not sure why they didn't try to get someone else to come in....or why the bartender didn't help her. Whatever the reason was, it really turned me off, so I'll probably try some place new next time I'm in town.

Yahtzee, or poker, anyone? Who doesn't love to roll a few di? Especially if the odds are in your favor? At Old Town Pub & Restaurant you can roll 3-of-a-kind and win a free beer. Unfortunately, the odds that you'll actually get to play that game aren't that great. I hate to give low reviews. Especially, when the review is based on a run-in with a particular member of the establishment's staff. However, they hired this person, so the restaurant/bar should know what customers think, right? My husband and I came here earlier this week after having a really great experience at a sushi joint that was right around the corner (Spostas...GO THERE). It was our first night in Steamboat and we were undoubtedly high on life. We take a seat at the bar thinking that our night could only get better. Unfortunately, we are greeted by a waitress who had definitely had better days. Either that, or she's constantly cranky. Her attitude reminded me of something that I've seen at other, high-end mountain resort bars. Blech, The up-side: The bar is convenient, open late, and had New Belgium's most recent beer (Dig) on tap. The low-down: Our bartender couldn't have cared less about us. She asked for our drink order, without even breaking a smile. We ordered and then my husband said that he'd like to roll for a free beer. The bartender replied "I'm too busy for that". Now, we were initially ok with that, being that the sign that mentions the roll for free beer also states that "the staff can decline a play due to business". But, what she really meant was that she was too busy checking her phone for important messages (from someone else who apparently pays her bills) to bother with giving her customers (who happen to be BIG tippers) decent service. No. I'm not kidding. After giving us the brush-off, she proceeded to sip her beverage and check her phone for what accumulated to about 15 minutes worth of down-time. And, we were sitting at her bar for maybe a total of 60 minutes. We still tipped 20%, but that's only because I've worked in the industry and know what bartenders make. Overall: A waste of our time. The service was totally lacking. We could have gone to the liquor store and bought a six-pack of Dig for what we payed for two beers at this place. Won't be back.

The food is very good, I would say the venison chili is excellent. The servers were friendly and attentive. It is a bit on the pricey side for essentially bar food, but overall worth it.

If you're looking for an old west saloon style place you will be disappointed you stepped foot into this establishment. Burger night was great 5 years ago, I don't know what happened but there just is no love left in this place. I don't bitch about service, but when your understaffed it just makes for a miserable meal. Very disappointed with the service, food was average... basically nothing about this place makes me want to come back even if they were giving away free food. on the plus, there is wireless internet and the bar is cool when it doesn't smell like a frat house.

This has always been one of my favorite pubs, anywhere, since I was introduced to it right after moving to Steamboat. And ever since moving away, I try to go back every year when I'm in town on a ski trip. The Southwest chicken sandwich, which isn't on the current menu, is the best thing in the world after a long day on the slopes. There seems to be a recurring rumor that OTP has stopped making the sandwich, which sends me into a panic every year ... but this year, Lizzie was AWESOME in making sure I got my fix. She's very quick to respond to any queries via the website, and she even gave me her text number and told me to let her know when I would be getting in, and she'd make sure I got my Southwest chicken sandwich. She told the staff to be on the lookout for me and though she wasn't working the night I came, later in the weekend, she even texted me to make sure I got my sandwich and that the service was satisfactory. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! This is exactly the small-town friendliness I remember and miss from living in Steamboat :) And ... when I actually got my sandwich ... it was delicious. The bun was different - it's now brioche, but it's definitely better ... no more falling apart in my hands less than halfway through! Chicken was good, pepper jack cheese was spicy, and the cilantro mayo was the freshest I've ever tasted it. The cilantro mayo is also excellent to go with the crispy, perfectly cooked fries instead of ketchup. Thank you, Lizzie!!! :)

If u have no other choice, eat here, but order the kids chicken strips or the venison chili. Maybe people go here for reasons other than the food or maybe they should just stick to burgers if that's what people like here.

Friendly service, not so good food, at least for the price. Yes, it is a mountain town so there is a premium for that; but a plate of fish and chips (no sides or drinks) should not cost upwards of $16.00+tip. I came here as part of a group and everyone else seemed to mimic the same response: not a very good value for your dollar. Did not have a chance to try the bar but it did like a good selection of beers, not too sure on their drink prices.

This is a decent family friendly place. While I must say while the "bar food" didn't blow me away, the service was fantastic! Actually, I did quite love the venison chili I started out with while eating there. This seems like a good place to come with a large group or even kids, but other than that the ambiance isn't all that. Nothing fancy for the night, but exactly what we needed, a beer and to be fed!

Stopped in for Burger Night on a Thursday with table of 14. Service was excellent and prompt and burgers were excellent with a load of fries on the side. And it was only $4.99!! Extremely good deal. Don't know if this is on all summer, but even at normal price, it's still worth it. Pleasant ambience in Steamboat mode.

We were there for lunch today after hitting the farmer's market (which was small but quite nice) and stopped in for a quick lunch. Big mistake. The food was average bar food - nothing terribly exciting except for the fried pickles ( and I've had better of those) but the service was abyssmal. Our waitress was quite apologetic - " we had had a bunch of people come in all at once". Really? At lunch time? What a shocking surprise. But then, considering the service maybe it was. The place was half full but it took ten minutes to order drinks, ten minutes to get them and then ten more minutes to order food. Then almost twenty minutes to get the food (hamburger, mac and cheese, etc nothing complicated). We won't be going back.

One star for the waitress appearing to take out order! My husband's entree had beans which were rancid, our friend's beers from the tap were flat, the place was not busy yet we waited 30-40 minutes for our food!!! The oil used for fries was old so the fries tasted weird! Someone hire Chef Gordon Ramsey to save this kitchen nightmare!

We are giving this restaurant 5 stars primarily based on service. We were a party of 8 (4 of which were kids 6 and under) and on a busy Saturday night they were extremely accomodating on getting us seated. The food was average The wings were excellent. The kids plates were hearty.

I can't remember what it was called but it had an onion ring on it . . . Yummy

end of ski season, Saturday afternoon service was as expected. average. nothing extra, or above and beyond. fried mozz sticks are a must! burger was good, not excellent, cooked as we asked. had to wait for manager with keys to return in order to have kicked keg swapped out.

    (4)
  • Robert L.

The fried pickles and pickled were great and the burger was quite good too. Do not under any circumstances order a mixed drink however. Watering down the liqueur is one thing but watering down the mixer takes a whole new skill set. My whiskey sour was the worst I've ever had and the rest of our table finally resorted to wine and beer after several other bad cocktails. Caesar salad was not good wings were super average and elk chili was passable. Try Mahogany down the street for nice strong drinks and a far more imaginative and well done menu. They ended up comping our cocktails but the bartender ought to be shot.

Yucky food. I ordered the veggie burger and it wasn't even cooked. Seriously, it was mushy. The bread was ok, so I basically had bread and fries for dinner. The inside of the restaurant was drab and there was nobody there at noon on a Saturday. Guess we should have gotten the hint!

Me and a buddy are here in late summer. Slow service to start with, so we sat at the bar. The height of the seats and the funky bar push your knees down and make for uncomfortable sitting. Ended up sitting sideways to be comfortable. Beer was cold.

Such a great feeling from this place. There are bars that you walk into and feel like a regular straight away, and this is one of them.

One star for the waitress appearing to take out order! My husband's entree had beans which were rancid, our friend's beers from the tap were flat, the place was not busy yet we waited 30-40 minutes for our food!!!

When we first got there it was a bit empty but the hosts were frantic at our arrival, kind of weird. The food was typical pub food. They have live bands there some nights after ten pm.

I stand corrected. The burger patties here are not frozen and are 1/2 pound. Thank you to the manager for caring enough to read our Yelp reviews! I will have to give it another try - and ask for another handmade margarita!

Such a great feeling from this place. There are bars that you walk into and feel like a regular straight away, and this is one of them. Wonderful slow Sunday night, and exceptionally friendly service at the bar. We will absolutely be back the next time we come up to the boat. Lots of love for the OTP!

  • Robert L.
